Remington recalls hair dryers sold online via Amazon, Walmart and Target
Over 56,000 Remington Hair Dryers Recalled Due to Electrocution Risk
Empower Brands is recalling approximately 56,300 Remington hair dryers in the U.S. due to a serious safety hazard: the risk of electric shock or electrocution. The affected units lack an essential immersion protection device, which helps prevent injury if the appliance comes into contact with water.
The recall, announced on August 14, 2025, by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), applies to model number D3190DCDN—a purple and black unit with three black control buttons on the handle. These hair dryers were sold exclusively online through Walmart Marketplace, Target Marketplace, and Amazon between March 2024 and June 2025, priced between $25 and $32.
Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the product, unplug it, and cut the power cord in half. A photo of the disabled device must be submitted via the recall registration portal on the Remington Products website to qualify for a full refund.
Empower Brands, in partnership with Spectrum Brands Inc., has made customer safety a priority and provided a dedicated toll-free number (1-844-695-2134) and email address (HairdryerRecall@Spectrumbrands.com) for recall-related inquiries. More information can be found under the “Product Recalls” section of the Remington website.
At this time, no injuries or incidents have been reported in connection with the recalled dryers. While no lawsuits have been filed, Top Class Actions is monitoring the situation, as safety recalls can sometimes lead to legal action.
