Bodycam Footage Shows Florida Woman Charging Officer with Knife Before Being Shot
Newly released bodycam footage captures the moment a Florida woman was shot after charging at a police officer with a large knife during a confrontation in Port St. Joe.
According to WJHG, the Port St. Joe Police Department released the footage on Tuesday, which shows a woman—later identified as 41-year-old Tekila Walker—advancing toward a police sergeant with a 16-inch fillet knife. The incident occurred on August 15 following a series of hit-and-run crashes allegedly involving Walker.
The video, also reviewed by WMBB, documents the events leading up to the shooting. Officers are seen attempting to subdue Walker with a taser, but their efforts are unsuccessful. As the situation escalates, Walker suddenly exits her vehicle and charges at an officer with the knife in hand, prompting the sergeant to open fire.

“She came at me with a knife—what the hell did you expect me to do?” the officer is heard saying to bystanders shortly after the incident.
Walker sustained two gunshot wounds and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. She survived and was later arrested on September 1 in connection with the confrontation.
Walker now faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence.
Port St. Joe Police Chief Jake Richards confirmed that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is continuing to investigate the shooting.
