Trump Demands Big Pharma Release COVID Vaccine Data

On Labor Day, President Donald Trump called on pharmaceutical giant Pfizer to publicly release its COVID-19 vaccine data, citing concerns over transparency and growing tensions within federal health agencies.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump claimed he had been shown “extraordinary” vaccine results by Pfizer and other drug companies, but expressed frustration that this data has not been made available to the public or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

“It is very important that the Drug Companies justify the success of their various Covid Drugs. Many people think they are a miracle that saved millions of lives. Others disagree!” Trump wrote. “With CDC being ripped apart over this question, I want the answer, and I want it NOW.”

Trump’s statement follows the recent firing of CDC Director Dr. Susan Monarez, who was dismissed after clashing with Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over vaccine policy. In her place, Kennedy appointed HHS Deputy Director Jim O’Neil as acting CDC director. Monarez’s ousting reportedly triggered the resignation of at least four senior CDC officials.

“They show me GREAT numbers and results, but they don’t seem to be showing them to many others,” Trump added in his post. “I want them to show them NOW, to CDC and the public, and clear up this MESS, one way or the other!”

Trump also reflected on his administration’s “Operation Warp Speed,” the initiative launched during his presidency to accelerate COVID-19 vaccine development. “I hope OPERATION WARP SPEED was as ‘BRILLIANT’ as many say it was,” he wrote. “If not, we all want to know about it, and why???”

The controversy comes amid significant changes to U.S. vaccine policy. Last week, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued updated guidelines, limiting COVID vaccine approvals to older and higher-risk populations. The FDA granted full marketing authorization to the vaccines for those at higher risk: Moderna for individuals 6 months and older, Pfizer for ages 5 and up, and Novavax for ages 12 and up. Emergency use authorizations for the general population have now been rescinded.

Kennedy, who has long been a vocal critic of certain vaccine policies, said the updated guidelines mark a shift away from the sweeping mandates implemented under President Biden. “These vaccines are available for all patients who choose them after consulting with their doctors,” Kennedy stated.

During the Biden administration, federal mandates had required COVID-19 vaccination for military personnel, healthcare workers, federal employees, and employees of large companies. Several of those mandates were later overturned by the courts.

As political and scientific debates around the vaccines continue, Trump’s demand for data transparency highlights ongoing concerns over public trust, government oversight, and the long-term evaluation of the pandemic response.
