‘House of Cards’ actress joins Hollywood exodus from US after calling country a ‘s—show’

Actress Robin Wright, best known for her roles in House of Cards and The Princess Bride, recently shared her decision to live abroad, saying she has found greater peace and enjoyment outside the United States.

“America is a s—show,” Wright told The Times of London, citing the fast-paced, high-stress lifestyle she feels is common in the U.S.

Currently working in the United Kingdom and spending more time with her family, Wright expressed her appreciation for life overseas. “I love being in this country. There’s a freedom of self here. People are so kind,” she said. “They’re living. They’re not in the car in traffic, panicked on a phone call, eating a sandwich. That’s most of America. Everything’s rush, competition and speed.”

Wright, 59, said she plans to rent a home on the English seaside, where she can live with her family and dogs. “It’s liberating to be done,” she said. “Be done with searching, looking and getting 60 percent of what you wanted.”

Her comments come amid a broader trend of some Hollywood figures expressing discontent with life in the U.S., particularly in relation to political developments. Over the years, several celebrities—including Whoopi Goldberg, Miley Cyrus, Amy Schumer, and Barbra Streisand—have publicly stated their intentions to leave the country in protest, especially during and after Donald Trump’s presidency. While many have not followed through, a few—such as Rosie O’Donnell, Ellen DeGeneres, and Portia de Rossi—have reportedly made the move.

In addition to her acclaimed role in House of Cards, Wright’s film credits include Forrest Gump, Wonder Woman, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Wright has not yet responded to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
