WATCH: Scottish Girl Arrested for Using Knife to Defend Sister from Migrant
A viral video showing a young girl brandishing an axe and a large knife in Dundee, Scotland, has sparked significant online reaction and led to the arrest of the 12-year-old involved. The footage, which has been viewed over 20 million times, shows the girl and another young girl shouting at adults, amid unverified claims that they were being harassed by migrants.
Police Scotland confirmed that the incident occurred on Saturday, August 23, 2025, in St Ann Lane, Dundee. In the video, the girls can be heard shouting expletives, telling the adults to stay away. Shortly after the footage went viral, Police Scotland apprehended one of the girls and charged her with possession of offensive weapons.
Initially reported to be 14, the girl was later confirmed to be 12 years old. In a statement to Blaze News, Chief Superintendent Nicola Russell said: “A 12-year-old girl has been charged with being in possession of offensive weapons. She will be referred to the relevant authorities, and our enquiries are ongoing.”

The police also addressed widespread speculation and false claims circulating on social media. “We are aware of misinformation being shared,” Russell added. “This relates to an incident where a Bulgarian couple were approached by youths in St Ann Lane.”
Police emphasized that no adults were arrested or charged in connection with the case. A spokesperson for Police Scotland, Lisa Smith, previously confirmed this to Blaze News.
Despite the police clarification, conflicting reports have continued to emerge. A woman claiming to be the mother of one of the girls alleged that a man and a woman had made inappropriate comments toward a child, which allegedly led to a confrontation. These claims have not been substantiated by law enforcement.
The man involved, identified as Dumana, a Bulgarian national who moved to the UK legally in 2021, spoke to the Daily Mail and denied all allegations. He stated that he was simply walking with his wife and their infant child to the shops when the confrontation occurred.

“In the video she’s saying, ‘Don’t touch my sister, she’s only 12.’ I never touched her,” Dumana said. “I didn’t hit her. I swear on my life—I have a baby now. I would never hurt someone.”
He added that he believes misinformation is harming his reputation and called for the public to consider the facts. “I have not done anything wrong. I’m a human being, not an animal.”
The incident occurred in Dundee’s Lochee area, described by some as economically challenged. Content creator Robin Alderslowe commented on the broader issue of violence in such neighborhoods, saying, “These kinds of areas have a lot of violence, and I’ve seen weapons brandished several times like this before.”
Billionaire Elon Musk also weighed in on the story via his social media platform X, calling for legal action against what he described as “corrupt officials” in the UK.

Police have urged the public not to spread unverified claims and to allow the investigation to proceed. “We would like to thank the local community for their help with our investigation and would urge the public not to share misinformation about this incident or speculate on the circumstances,” their statement concluded.
