Florida man busts burglary suspect while wearing Batman pajamas: ‘Gave me the confidence I needed’
In Cape Coral, Florida, a man wearing Batman pajamas became an unlikely hero after he helped detain a burglary suspect in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
According to the Cape Coral Police Department, officers responded to a burglary call just after 2 a.m., only to discover that a pajama-clad vigilante had already intervened. The man, Kyle Myvett, said he was awakened by his wife after their home security system alerted them to suspicious activity outside.
When he checked the footage, Myvett saw someone rifling through his vehicle and a neighbor’s garage. Still dressed in his Batman onesie and socks, he decided to confront the intruder himself.

“Without the person seeing me, I grabbed hold of their shirt and right wrist and told him, ‘Listen, don’t try to get away, I have plenty of experience with this,’” Myvett told local station Fox 4 Now.
He credited his superhero sleepwear with boosting his confidence. “I’m really glad I had my Batman pajamas on because that gave me the extra confidence I needed,” he said.
Police soon arrived and took 20-year-old Justin Schimpl into custody. He was allegedly carrying stolen items including two pairs of Ray-Ban sunglasses, cash, a bracelet, and several gift cards. Schimpl now faces multiple charges, including three counts of burglary and two counts of petit theft.
Thanks to Myvett’s quick thinking — and perhaps his Batman pajamas — police say the suspect’s crime spree was brought to an end.
“He was arrested and charged. He’s facing multiple charges today thanks to Kyle and his Batman pajamas,” said Cape Coral PD’s Lisa Greenberg.
