Cracker Barrel Caves to Public Pressure and Trump, Switches Back to Beloved ‘Old Timer’ Logo
Cracker Barrel has announced it will revert to its classic “Old Timer” logo following significant public criticism over a recent rebranding effort.
The change comes just a week after CEO Julie Felss Masino unveiled a new logo and modernized restaurant design that sparked controversy among longtime customers. The redesigned logo removed the iconic image of the elderly man leaning against a barrel—a visual many associated with the brand’s traditional charm and identity.
Masino had defended the rebrand during an appearance on Good Morning America, stating, “Honestly, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.” However, the company’s stock took a hit, losing over $100 million in market value in the days following the announcement, indicating otherwise.
.
Adding to the pressure, former President Donald Trump weighed in on the issue Tuesday via Truth Social, urging the company to return to its original branding. “Cracker Barrel should go back to the old logo, admit a mistake based on customer response (the ultimate Poll), and manage the company better than ever before,” he wrote. “They got a billion dollars’ worth of free publicity if they play their cards right… Make Cracker Barrel a WINNER again.”
In response to the mounting criticism, Cracker Barrel confirmed Tuesday afternoon that it would restore the original logo, citing the strong emotional connection customers have with the brand’s heritage.
