Zelensky gives Trump golf putter from Ukrainian soldier who lost leg in combat
President Trump received an engraved golf putter from a Ukrainian soldier who found solace in the game after losing his leg while fighting Russian invaders, The Post has learned.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky presented Trump with the club — engraved with the phrase “Let’s putt peace together!” — in the Oval Office Monday on behalf of Junior Sgt. Kostyantyn Kartavtsev.
“I am one of those soldiers you have spoken about — they’re courageous, they are good soldiers,” Kartavtsev said in a video message shown to Trump by the Ukrainian president. “I lost a leg rescueing my fellow men, and am recovering here with golf.”
Kartavtsev golfs on an artificial leg courtesy of the Ukrainian Golf Federation’s United By Golf program, which focuses on veterans’ rehabilitation.
“This is a gift from a man who knows the true price of peace,” United By Golf said in a statement. “Like all those on the frontlines today, he continues to defend our freedom.”
