It’s Official: Commies Now Control America’s Two Biggest Cities
Vote counting in California is notoriously slow, though it occasionally brings good news for Republicans in swing districts.
Not so on Thursday, because it turns out that thanks to Los Angeles voters, certified commies now run America’s two most populous cities.
In a race that marks the only time it was acceptable for a sane person to ever root for Karen Bass, Democratic Socialists of America member and Los Angeles City Councilwoman Nithya Raman beat the incumbent Bass to run the City of Angels, where she will undoubtedly create more of them through her unabashedly pro-drug policies.
As of Thursday evening, with a little over three-quarters of the vote counted, Raman held a 52.7 to 47.3 percent edge over Bass, NBC News reported.
With Zohran Mamdani in charge of New York City, that means the DSA now runs our two biggest metropolises.
“Los Angeles, I’m deeply honored to be your next Mayor,” Raman said in a statement, according to Fox News.
“I am going to City Hall to work every single day to earn your trust, and to earn your trust in this city again.”
Bass, a longtime member of Congress who was considered for Joe Biden’s running mate before becoming mayor of L.A., was plagued by a number of scandals, most notably her handling of the 2025 wildfires.
Initially, it appeared that reality TV star and conservative activist Spencer Pratt — who lost his home in the wildfires — would challenge Bass in the general election after performing well in the jungle primary.
However, a last-minute rush of mail-in ballots in favor of the 45-year-old Raman, a little-known socialist councilwoman whose main accomplishments during her six years in office seemed to be keeping druggies on drugs and homeless people homeless, helped set up one of the most odious Hobson’s choices in recent electoral memory.
It’s worth noting that unlike her comrade Mamdani on the East Coast, Raman never acquitted herself well during the campaign.
During the first round of debates, her idea that what the homeless needed was “treatment” got rightly mocked by Pratt, who said that he would “go below the Harbor Freeway with her tomorrow, and we can find some of these people she’s gonna offer treatment for.”
“She’s gonna get stabbed in the neck. These people do not want a bed. They want fentanyl or super meth.”

Even Bass criticized Raman for voting against clearing out lawless homeless encampments before she was her official opposition in the general election.
“This is who she is. Councilmember Raman opposes the law prohibiting encampments next to schools and has voted against hundreds of cleanups,” Bass’s office said in a statement.
“This is just another example of her taking us backward.”
After a poor debate against Bass last month, Raman tried to jokingly (we think) blame her performance on being in a “fugue state.”

For the uninitiated, that’s a fancy DSM-5 version of saying “amnesia.”
She’s going to need a lot of amnesia over the next four years to forget about fentanyl deaths and homeless camps on every street corner, and so will the voters if she hopes for a second term.
Say what you will about Zohran Mamdani, but at least he inherited a city that had a law-and-order administration under Eric Adams, who’d probably still be in a job if he hadn’t really wanted a few first-class tickets on Turkish Airlines.
Raman will be taking over for Bass, whose anti-competence was legendary even for the state of California. And Raman is worse.
I’d ask the last housed person out of Los Angeles to turn out the lights, but why bother? You probably won’t have electricity anyway.
