DOJ Announces Sweeping Voter Fraud Charges on Eve of Midterms

As federal monitors fan out to catch fraudsters in the act, the Department of Justice announced voter fraud charges against multiple noncitizens.

Some 63 people were charged, including four illegal aliens, according to a Department of Justice news release.

Charges include voting by aliens in federal elections, false claims of U.S. citizenship to register to vote or to vote, and the fraudulent submission of a voter registration application in another state.

“Today’s announcement marks the largest surge of voter-fraud arrests since President Trump returned to office,” Attorney General Todd Blanche said.

Andrea Morzetta, an Italian national, was arrested by ICE and charged with unlawful voting by an alien. Morzetta allegedly cast ballots in four federal elections.

Illegal voting is NOT a paperwork error when someone knowingly and deliberately casts a ballot they are prohibited from casting.

American citizens deserve FAIR and HONEST elections, and the Trump administration is committed to protecting their integrity.

“These foreign nationals allegedly took advantage of the trust of the American people and flouted the laws that govern our nation’s elections. This Department of Justice will continue investigating and prosecuting voter fraud to restore confidence in our electoral system.”

In the last nine weeks, the Justice Department said it has charged 195 aliens in 25 states with illegal voting and registration offenses.

Since President Donald Trump took office, 239 people have been charged with offenses related to voting fraud.

Although most charges came in connection with the 2024 or 2022 elections, Kenyan national Elizabeth Margaret Crudup, 52, of North Carolina, was accused of illegally voting in federal elections since 2008.

The announcement came as the Justice Department said it was conducting its largest election integrity operation in its history, according to a news release.

About 1,000 election monitors and observers have been deployed, with monitors sent to every state for the first time.

“Election integrity has been one of the top priorities for this Administration and this Division,” Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon of the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice said.

“I am very proud we are deploying the largest monitoring effort in DOJ history, and pursuing transparency for elections in an assertive and nondiscriminatory manner,” she said.

The release noted that monitors have been part of the Justice Department’s election response since 1965, the year in which the Voting Rights Act was enacted.
