World War 3 expert fears Trump will drop nuclear bomb as America becomes everyone’s enemy
A military expert has admitted that she’s “terrified” Donald Trump might deploy a “tactical nuke somewhere”, turning the US into a global pariah.
In 2026, a Third World War no longer feels unthinkable. Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and hybrid warfare in Europe, along with the US and Israeli-led conflict in Iran, and reports that China could invade Taiwan all add to a stark global picture.
Fears have been mounting that the UK could also be drawn into conflict. In October, the head of the British Army, General Sir Roly Walker, warned that leaders were about to have a “frank conversation” with the public. Adding to fears is the sense that the long-standing US-led Western alliance is deteriorating under President Trump as he distances himself from Europe and appears to cozy up to the authoritarian Russian president, Vladimir Putin.
Dr Sarah Paine, geopolitical strategist and former US Naval War College professor, describes Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu’s conflict in Iran as “recreational” and one of the most “incompetent wars in human history”.
Dr Paine explained on the Diary Of A CEO podcast: “Let’s do some concepts of how to analyze that. One is, in a war, if you’re doing it right, if you really must have a war, you put all the costs on the person you’re fighting, and then you minimize costs yourself.
“Well, this war has trashed the US economy. It has blown the US alliance system. Yes, Iran is hurting without a doubt, but it also has the collateral damage of taking down the world’s economy.
“So this now transforms the United States into an annoyance to just about everyone’s primary adversary for threatening their economies. That’s breathtakingly incompetent.”
The conflict has now raged on for eight months, with the Strait of Hormuz still under Iranian control, choking off gas and oil shipments to global markets and driving up energy costs for consumers.
Iran’s hardline regime faces an existential threat from the US and Israel, but appears to be weathering the storm through hybrid warfare – launching drone and missile strikes on neighboring, US-allied Gulf states and attacking ships in the Strait.
Meanwhile, the Iran-backed Houthi militia in Yemen has been attempting to seize the Bab al-Mandeb Strait on the other side of the Arabian Peninsula – another key oil chokepoint that provides access to the Suez Canal and the SUMED pipeline.
As peace negotiations falter, it appears to leave the Trump administration with few options. There’s currently a lull in strikes on Iran, but America is reportedly planning a short campaign after the midterm elections on November 3.
Confronted with a potential forever war, Dr Paine fears Trump may take more drastic action. “As long as Donald Trump and Bibi Netanyahu are in power, what do you think they’re going to do? They’re going to cause trouble until those two people are out of power, right?
“And so people who want to keep Netanyahu and Trump in power longer, just understand it’s going to make Iran go on longer. And then I’m terrified that Trump will do something like drop a tactical nuke somewhere, and then things are really over.
“The United States will be forever this despicable country, the only country in the world that’s ever dropped nukes on anyone. Twice on Japan, and then we’re going to do a third on Iran.”
Asked if this was a plausible scenario, Dr Paine added: “I have no idea. If you had told me 10 years ago that where we’re at was even remotely plausible, I would say, ‘You’re insane. What have you been smoking lately?'”
Further stressing her point, she said the notion of the US breaking alliances, telling Canada they’re the US’ “51st state”, and threatening to annex Greenland would have previously seemed “ludicrous”.
