Man sentenced to 70 years for killing girlfriend’s co-worker
A man was sentenced to 70 years in prison for killing someone he believed was having an affair with his girlfriend.
Ronnie Salas, 24, was convicted of murdering Andre Montera, who was shot and killed Aug. 23, 2025. Salas pleaded not guilty before his trial last week.
Montera worked with Salas’ girlfriend, according to the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office. On the day of the shooting, Montera was picking up a co-worker when Salas confronted him and shot him over the suspected relationship.
Salas had been waiting outside the apartment for Montera to arrive. Montera was taken to a hospital after the shooting and pronounced dead.
Salas left before police arrived and was later arrested in Kansas. Crime Stoppers sought information about the case that could help lead to his arrest.
Court records show Salas has filed an appeal of his conviction.
