Residents in and around Buena Park saw the sky light up on Saturday night due to a massive fireworks display that may have been illegal.
Buena Park authorities did not have any information on the incident right away; however, video footage circulating on social media shows rounds upon rounds of fireworks being shot into the air in quick succession.
Preliminary but unconfirmed reporting from news stringer agency Traffic News Los Angeles (TNLA) indicates that what they referred to as a “prolonged commercial-grade fireworks [display]” lasted for over 15 minutes, starting around 10:20 p.m.
“The fireworks produced as much or possibly more smoke in the atmosphere than the Disneyland fireworks show, which occurred at a similar time,” a TNLA reporter noted.
The fireworks were allegedly launched near a warehouse on Dolly Avenue.
Per TNLA, three people were detained by police, but witness accounts suggest other people who may have been involved got away. That report was not confirmed.
