Former FBI Profiler Suggests O.J. Simpson May Have Had Accomplice in Killings
A former FBI profiler is raising new questions about one of the most infamous murder cases in American history, suggesting that O.J. Simpson may not have acted alone in the 1994 killings of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.
Jim Clemente, a former New York prosecutor who later worked as an FBI profiler, discussed the theory during a podcast appearance alongside media host Tom Zenner and Kato Kaelin, who was staying in Simpson’s guest house at the time of the murders.
Simpson was acquitted in criminal court in October 1995 of the murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman. However, a later civil trial found him liable for their deaths. Simpson consistently denied involvement until his death from cancer in 2024 at the age of 76.
Clemente said his theory is based largely on the nature of Goldman’s wounds. According to Clemente, injuries to Goldman’s legs suggest he may have been restrained while being attacked.
He noted that cuts found in Goldman’s clothing appeared consistent with his legs being elevated and extended, as if he were kicking during a struggle. Clemente argued that the injuries could indicate one person was holding Goldman from behind while another carried out the stabbing.
Clemente also pointed to what he described as a lack of typical defensive wounds on Goldman’s arms. In his view, that raises the possibility that Goldman’s arms were being controlled while he attempted to defend himself by kicking.
The former profiler further suggested the attack may have been planned rather than a spontaneous crime of passion. He believes Nicole Brown Simpson was the intended target and that Goldman simply arrived at the wrong place at the wrong time when he stopped by her home to return a pair of eyeglasses she had left at a restaurant.
Clemente also speculated that Simpson may have worried about Brown’s two young children waking up during the attack, providing another possible reason for an accomplice.
While Clemente said he has “a pretty good idea” who may have assisted Simpson, he did not publicly identify the person.
The claims come as an upcoming documentary revisits long-standing theories surrounding the case, including allegations that Simpson may have had help. One theory focuses on the late Joey Ippolito Jr., who has been mentioned by some as a possible accomplice.
No court has ever determined that Simpson had an accomplice, and the theory remains disputed more than three decades after the murders.
