Charlie Sheen Set for Major TV Comeback in Historic Family Reunion Comedy
After years away from the spotlight following his turbulent exit from Two and a Half Men, Charlie Sheen is continuing his television comeback with a project that marks a first in his career.
AMC has officially announced Happy Jack, a new multi-camera comedy starring both Charlie Sheen and his father, Martin Sheen. The series is scheduled to premiere on AMC and AMC+ in 2027 and will become the network’s first traditional multi-camera sitcom. The project also marks the first time the father-son duo will star together as co-leads in a television series.
In Happy Jack, Charlie Sheen plays Jack, a laid-back father of two adult daughters who was largely raised by his own father, played by Martin Sheen. Much of the comedy centers around the family’s complicated relationships, including the chaos that erupts when one of Jack’s daughters begins dating a man who is the same age as her father.
The six-episode first season comes from writers Jim Patterson and Matt Ross, both of whom previously worked on Two and a Half Men. Patterson served as a writer and producer during Sheen’s years on the hit sitcom, making the new project a notable reunion for several key members of the original creative team.
In a statement announcing the series, Charlie Sheen said he was excited to return to television, adding that “the crew has reassembled” and that it was time to “give the people what they want.”
While the Sheens have appeared together on screen before, including Two and a Half Men and Anger Management, Happy Jack will be the first television series built around both actors as equal leads.
AMC executives are betting the combination of the Sheens’ family chemistry and an experienced sitcom production team can help launch the network into new territory. Known primarily for acclaimed dramas such as Mad Men and Breaking Bad, AMC has rarely ventured into the classic sitcom format.
Production on Happy Jack is expected to begin early next year, with the series slated to debut sometime in 2027. For Charlie Sheen, the show represents another significant step in a career resurgence that has gained momentum through recent appearances on Bookie and the documentary series aka Charlie Sheen.
Whether Happy Jack becomes a breakout hit remains to be seen, but the prospect of Charlie Sheen and Martin Sheen finally headlining a sitcom together makes it one of the more intriguing television projects currently in development.
