Woman armed with pistol storms school bus carrying 37 kids because she believed the driver pulled out in front of her
A 19-year-old woman in Indiana, armed with a pistol, allegedly engaged with a school bus carrying 37 students in a road rage incident after losing her cool at the bus driver.
The Indianapolis Police Department arrested and charged Aunt Jamiya Sutton with criminal confinement while armed with a deadly weapon, criminal confinement where a vehicle is used and pointing a firearm at another, as well as unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, per WTHR.
Officers were called to East 36th Street and North DeQuincy Street on Wednesday, September 16, and found the accused in the driver’s seat of her car parked sideways on the road, blocking the bus.
When investigators asked, Sutton said she was traveling East when a school bus allegedly pulled out in front of her, almost hitting her vehicle.
As the accused turned her car to avoid colliding with the bus, she said her side mirror and door panel hit a nearby construction site, per the outlet.
Sutton stopped at an intersection where there was no stop sign, as revealed by the bus driver to the police, per Fox 59.
The bus driver said their vehicle didn’t collide in the incident and thus, she didn’t stop the bus and kept moving.
However, Sutton said the bus allegedly had a “close call” with her vehicle and didn’t stop, which led her to overtake and block the bus’s way so it wouldn’t be able to leave.
Court documents reveal that Sutton allegedly pulled out a gun from her car and approached the driver’s side of the bus.
Sutton pointed the weapon at the bus driver and asked her to get out, but the driver denied it, as she had students on the bus.
Court documents also stated, per the outlet, that Sutton waved the gun around after the driver refused to get off the bus, pointing at her from the windshield.
When police asked the accused about it, she said she “did not do anything with it.”
However, court documents revealed that she allegedly got inside the bus with her weapon, leading the bus driver to call 91, per Fox 59.
Sutton reportedly didn’t point the gun at anyone inside the bus and quickly got off before officers arrived at the location and seized the firearm.
