‘Lewd acts’: Investigation, arrest

FOX59/CBS4 previously covered Guenthenspberger in March after the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office announced his arrest following an investigation into a cyber tip submitted by the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

As part of the investigation, detectives executed search warrants at a home based in North Vernon and seized multiple electronic devices that reportedly belonged to Guenthenspberger. On those devices, JCSO said deputies found files containing child sex abuse material.

Detectives also located videos that allegedly showed Guenthenspberger “committing lewd acts” with a baby calf and the family dog. Indiana State Police and Indiana Department of Child Services also assisted with the case.

According to new court documents filed on Sept. 11 in Jennings County, a detective discovered a video on Guenthenspberger’s cell phone where he can be seen torturing and sexually abusing a dog inside a vehicle.

While searching through his phone, detectives also reported finding additional videos showing random adults performing sex acts with dogs. Other sexually explicit videos found on Guenthenspberger’s cell phone included alligators, a sheep, a horse and a donkey, according to court documents.

Detectives also reported finding “self-production” videos where Guenthenspberger can be seen allegedly performing sexual acts on a dog and baby calf, court documents said.

As the investigation into Guenthenspberger’s online activities continued, detectives also reported finding videos that he had downloaded online depicting the sexual abuse of infants, with some victims being “just a few days old.”

‘I think you already know, if you all are here’: Guenthenspberger’s account

On March 30, detectives arrived at a home in North Vernon as part of the CSAM investigation. When detectives made initial contact with Guenthenspberger, they observed a cell phone in his hand and noticed that he appeared to be trying to “delete something from the phone.”

One of the detectives managed to collect the phone before Guenthenspberger could take any “further actions,” court documents said.

When asked if he had been deleting content from the phone, Guenthenspberger admitted he was. The detective then asked what the content was that made him feel like he should delete it. To that, Guenthenspberger reportedly responded, “I think you already know, if you all are here.”

Guenthenspberger then said that “bad decisions online” led detectives to his home. He reportedly told the detective that he had been viewing this type of content since he was 13 years of age.

Court documents also detailed how detectives uncovered videos Guenthenspberger recorded of himself performing sex acts with a cow and the family dog.

“This was a very extensive investigation that is still ongoing and more charges are likely. We are grateful for the strong partnerships with fellow agencies that make cases like this possible,” Chief Deputy Cody Low previously said. “The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office will aggressively track down individuals who victimize our children. We will proactively seek out child predators and hold them accountable.”

Guenthenspberger is scheduled to appear in Jennings Circuit Court on Sept. 18 for his initial hearing in the case.
