According to her, the “power structure” is so terrified of her opinions that agencies are still telling studios not to hire her. Boo. Freaking. Hoo.
During the press conference, Sarandon explained that she’s “had movies taken away recently” because certain agencies supposedly blacklist her. She insisted that regular people around the world welcome her, but major studios? Apparently they’re part of a vast anti‑Sarandon conspiracy. She even suggested that other actors are also being told it’s “impossible” to cast them — though she didn’t name a single one.
A journalist asked whether public opinion had shifted regarding the Palestine conflict. Sarandon confidently declared that “the narrative has completely changed,” as if she personally rewrote global geopolitics. She thanked director Andrea Pallaoro for making The Echo Chamber despite warnings he allegedly received about working with her. According to Sarandon, some people in Hollywood still “strongly disagree” with her views, but she’s found comfort among those who “understand” her.
Earlier this year in Barcelona, she praised Spain for its “moral clarity” on Gaza and repeated her usual talking points: she’s “very pro‑Palestinian,” she’s “against killing children everywhere,” and she believes every nation has the right to self‑determination. She also accused ICE of acting illegally and unfairly targeting Black and brown people, applauding communities that oppose immigration enforcement. She added that she feels “ashamed” to be paying taxes that support U.S. policy in Gaza.
Sarandon claims her agency fired her for speaking out and calling for a ceasefire, and that afterward it became “almost impossible” for her to appear on television or get major work. She insists Hollywood isn’t actually left‑leaning — it just supports whoever holds the most power at the moment, which, conveniently, explains why she’s not getting hired.
In short, Sarandon’s message is simple: She’s brave, she’s persecuted, she’s misunderstood, and Hollywood is totally terrified of her opinions.
