Death in the Cabin: A Fetish Fantasy Turned Fatal
A Florida man accused of killing a suicidal British woman in a fetish‑driven encounter allegedly tried to hide the murder weapon by mailing it to a friend, investigators say.
Dwain Hall, 53, is charged with murdering 32‑year‑old Sonia Exelby after the two met on an extreme fetish website. Detectives say Hall stabbed her four times with a customized knife, then buried her in a shallow grave near Marion Oaks.
Exelby, who struggled with severe mental health issues, reportedly traveled to the U.S. intending to die and had arranged payment for Hall to torture and kill her. A video recovered by police shows her stating she was not coerced, though messages she sent to a friend at the same time expressed regret and fear.
Authorities say Hall purchased rope, paracord, a shovel, and other supplies before picking Exelby up at the airport. After her death, he allegedly dumped her belongings, withdrew $1,200 from her bank card, and returned home.
Hall later mailed a bloodstained knife, its sheath, and a bracelet containing Exelby’s DNA to a friend in Ohio, telling him to keep the box safe. Detectives arrested Hall on fraud charges before discovering Exelby’s body. He now faces murder and kidnapping charges and has pleaded not guilty. Jury selection is scheduled for November 16, 2026.
