Pillow Man leads in Minnesota
Surprising Development?
A new KSTP/SurveyUSA poll shows businessman Mike Lindell and commentator Michele Tafoya expanding their leads in Minnesota’s Republican gubernatorial and U.S. Senate primaries.
GOP Gubernatorial Primary
Lindell currently leads the Republican field with 35% support. He is followed by:
- Lisa Demuth – 26%
- Kendall Qualls – 11%
Another 22% of respondents remain undecided.
Lindell recently received a “complete and total” endorsement from former President Trump, who praised him as “one of America’s greatest and most hard working patriots.”
Last year, a federal judge in Minnesota ruled against Lindell in a case involving his claims about Smartmatic voting machines and the 2020 election.
In recent weeks, Lindell selected retired Navy lieutenant commander Phillip Parish as his running mate after Parish ended his own gubernatorial bid.
Republicans hope to flip the governor’s office as Gov. Tim Walz (D) is not seeking reelection after two terms. Walz has faced criticism over the state’s massive fraud scandal, in which prosecutors allege up to $9 billion was stolen through fraudulent reimbursements for meal assistance programs and other services.
Minnesota Republican Senate Primary
Tafoya leads the GOP Senate field with 41%, aiming to flip the seat held by retiring Democratic Sen. Tina Smith.
Other candidates include:
- Royce White – 10%
- Tom Weiler – 7%
- Adam Schwarze – 5%
About 28% of voters remain undecided.
Election Timeline
Minnesota’s primary elections will be held August 11.
