Whatever Happened to Amy’s Baking Company After Gordon Ramsay Finally Gave Up?

More than a decade after becoming one of the most infamous restaurants ever featured on “Kitchen Nightmares,” Amy’s Baking Company remains one of reality television’s most unforgettable disasters.

Unlike nearly every other restaurant Gordon Ramsay attempted to rescue, Amy’s Baking Company in Scottsdale, Arizona, became the only business where the celebrity chef simply walked away.

During the now-legendary 2013 episode, Ramsay initially praised the restaurant’s spotless kitchen but quickly discovered the real problems lay with owners Amy and Samy Bouzaglo, whose explosive tempers, constant arguments with customers, and refusal to accept criticism ultimately pushed Ramsay to his breaking point.

After only two days, he abandoned the makeover altogether, telling the couple simply, “Good luck.”

The episode instantly became one of the most talked-about in the history of the series, generating millions of views online and turning the Bouzaglos into unlikely internet celebrities.

Rather than disappear from the spotlight, the couple embraced their notoriety.

They began selling T-shirts featuring some of the show’s most memorable quotes, including Amy’s famous “I speak feline — MEOW!” remark and another shirt displaying one of the restaurant’s more colorful responses to unhappy customers.

The publicity didn’t stop there.

Amy and Samy appeared on Dr. Phil, insisting they had been unfairly portrayed by the show’s producers and claiming the editing made them appear unstable. Amy later published an opinion piece accusing the program of distorting what really happened and even alleged that Ramsay behaved inappropriately during filming, although those accusations were never substantiated.

Meanwhile, the restaurant continued operating with the same confrontational management style that had made it famous. The couple frequently lashed out at critics on social media, and in one widely circulated incident, Samy was captured on video chasing a customer from the restaurant while holding a knife.

Despite the constant publicity, Amy’s Baking Company permanently closed its Scottsdale location in late 2015.

The couple relocated to California, where Amy briefly launched a cannabis-edibles business and self-published a cookbook before another major change altered their lives.

Samy, whose lengthy immigration case dated back years and included a criminal history involving drug and extortion charges, was deported to Israel in 2018. Amy moved there with him and opened a small bakery in the city of Netanya, later saying much of her behavior during the television show stemmed from fear and stress.

The marriage ultimately did not survive.

Amy filed for divorce in 2022, and while she no longer operates the notorious bakery that made her famous, she has quietly continued doing what she always insisted she loved most—baking.

Today, Amy regularly posts elaborate cakes, pastries, and desserts on Instagram, where nearly 33,000 followers still keep up with her work. The dramatic Facebook arguments, television appearances, and viral controversies have largely faded into history, replaced by colorful photos of baked goods and a much quieter life.

For many fans of Kitchen Nightmares, however, Amy’s Baking Company remains the restaurant that proved there was one challenge even Gordon Ramsay couldn’t fix.
