CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — A Clearwater woman was accused of setting her boyfriend’s home on fire after making threatening statements online.
On March 23 at 8 p.m., firefighters were called to a home on Devon Drive in Clearwater Beach. They extinguished the fire, which started in a shed outside of the home.
Heather Jo England, 55, was arrested Thursday after police said an anonymous tip pointed them toward her social media posts. According to England’s arrest report, she threatened to burn down a home belonging to her boyfriend’s grandmother, who allows him to sleep in the shed.
“The defendant made statements indicating intent to burn down the residence, including stating she would ‘huff and puff and blow his house down’,” the arrest report said.
Police said a neighbor’s security camera footage showed England’s vehicle at the home about 41 seconds before an officer reported the fire. She later admitted to setting the shed on fire using a camping-style propane tank with a torch attachment, according to the arrest report.
She also told an acquaintance at the dog park that she set the fire at due to her being ‘pissed off’ that her boyfriend stole from her, Clearwater police said.
England was charged with first-degree arson. She remained in the Pinellas County Jail on Friday.
