To Everyone Who Calls This Home

Tonight felt like one of those moments where I needed to say something straight from the heart.

Every once in a while, I’ll blow off a little steam. Sometimes I’ll post something aimed at the people constantly coming after our site. That’s just the reality of running something like this. There are a lot of voices out there that want to see TNBD gone. And dealing with that day after day can wear on you more than you might think.

But tonight, something different happened.

Rotorblade said something to me about TNBD that stuck. It made me stop for a second and really see what this place is, not just from our side, but from yours. It reminded me how much TNBD truly means to so many people. Not just as a site, but as a place you come to, a place you count on, a place that’s part of your daily life.

And that matters more than anything.

We’ve got no shortage of nutcases who want us shut down. That’s just the truth. People who spend their time trying to tear this place down, reporting it, targeting it, doing whatever they can to make it disappear. And sometimes, yeah, we need to vent a little. Blow off some steam. It’s part of fighting that fight every day.

But never-never-think for a second that we don’t see how much you care about TNBD. Just knowing this place exists means so much to so many of you. And I want you to know, we feel the exact same way about YOU.

If anything I’ve said recently made you worry that TNBD might go away, I mean this sincerely, I’m sorry for that. That was never my intention. Because the truth is, we’re a lot more like Tombstone: the town too tough to die.

This place? It’s too tough to take down.

Yeah, it gets hard. Fighting off people who seem determined to erase this community is exhausting at times. But what they don’t understand and probably never will is what they’re up against.

They’re not just up against a website.

They’re up against you.

This community is too strong, too connected, too invested to just disappear. I’ve seen things here that you don’t see anywhere else. People stepping up to help cover costs. People offering their time to help post stories. People offering real help, legal help, from their own families. That’s not normal. That’s not something you can fake or manufacture.

That’s real.

You guys have made us teflon here. Everything that gets thrown at us just slides right off, because of the strength behind this place.

And Rotorblade reminded me tonight just how much our words are heard, and how much this place means beyond what we see on the surface. It hit home.

We’re closer than most people realize. This isn’t just comments on a screen, it’s a community that stands together.

And we’re not going anywhere.

We’ll be here as long as there’s even one person left. Until the last one of us hits the light switch on the way out the door!
