Suspected Bloods, Crips, MS-13 gangbangers nabbed in Long Island crackdown: ‘Safest county in America’
Police in Nassau County carried out a series of coordinated raids over the past week, leading to the arrest of dozens of individuals, including suspected members of well-known street gangs.
Authorities reported that 35 people were taken into custody, among them 15 individuals believed to be affiliated with groups such as the Bloods, Crips, and MS-13. The remaining suspects were wanted on outstanding warrants. During the operation, officers also seized narcotics and recovered 10 illegal firearms.

County Executive Bruce Blakeman spoke following two of the raids in Hempstead on Tuesday, emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach toward crime. He pointed to recent efforts to bolster law enforcement, including hiring more than 600 officers and expanding resources aimed at improving public safety. Blakeman stated that these measures have helped maintain Nassau County’s reputation as one of the safest areas in the country.
The final round of raids drew attention from local residents as officers arrested three individuals believed to be connected to the Bloods. Neighbors watched as police, equipped with warrants, tactical gear, and face coverings, entered homes and carried out the arrests. The use of masks by officers is permitted under a 2025 legal update allowing them during certain operations, including federal immigration and undercover work.

According to police, the enforcement effort was part of a broader initiative targeting gang-related activity and drug distribution across Long Island, with earlier actions taking place on April 15.
Officials also confirmed the arrest of an alleged member of a Haitian criminal organization known as Zoe Pound. Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder stated that authorities are committed to reducing violent crime to historically low levels. He described law enforcement as a unified force determined to counter gang activity and ensure community safety.
