A Florida man is taking legal action against Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, claiming a stay at one of its budget hotels led to a painful experience. In a lawsuit filed March 31 in Orange County, David Besse alleges he was bitten repeatedly by bedbugs during a visit to Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort in May 2022.
According to the complaint, Besse argues the resort did not take adequate precautions to prevent such an incident. He claims staff were not properly trained to inspect guest rooms and that common pest-control measures—such as insecticidal treatments, protective mattress covers, and liners—were not in place.
While bedbugs are not known to transmit diseases, they can still cause irritation and allergic reactions. Reports have noted that infestations can occur in a wide range of accommodations, including higher-end hotels.
Besse says the alleged bites left him with lasting effects, including scarring, continued pain, and emotional distress. He also cites medical expenses and lost wages tied to the incident, though specific amounts were not detailed in the filing. He is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 and has requested a jury trial.
Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort, located near Disney’s Animal Kingdom, is considered one of the company’s more affordable lodging options.
