Authorities have identified the suspect in a series of early-morning attacks across metro Atlanta on Monday as 26-year-old Olaolukitan Adon Abel, a convicted felon with prior cases on both the East and West Coasts. Investigators say the violence unfolded in three separate incidents in DeKalb County, leaving two women dead and a man severely injured.

According to investigators, the first attack occurred shortly after midnight. Police say a woman had just stepped out of Abel’s rented silver Volkswagen Jetta outside a Checkers restaurant when she was shot repeatedly. An arrest warrant states she was struck 14 times and died from her injuries.

Roughly two hours later, around 2 a.m., the same vehicle was reportedly seen leaving the scene of another shooting at a nearby Kroger store. A 49-year-old man who had been sleeping near the business was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He survived but remains hospitalized in critical condition.

The final attack happened later that morning. Authorities say Abel exited the Jetta and followed a woman who was out walking her dog. Investigators say he briefly chased her before returning to the vehicle. The victim, identified as 40-year-old Lauren Bullis, was later found dead after being both shot and stabbed. Her family has said they are still searching for the dog that disappeared during the attack.

Abel was eventually stopped by police in Troup County during a traffic stop. Officers reportedly discovered him with a blood-stained knife.

Records show Abel was already on probation stemming from a sexual battery conviction in Savannah, Georgia, in June. In that case, several women told police they had been groped within about an hour, including some who were walking their dogs. Authorities said he was carrying a knife at the time of those incidents as well.

Court documents also indicate Abel has a 2024 felony conviction in San Diego County, California, where he was found guilty of assault with a deadly weapon against a police officer or firefighter, along with vandalism.

He remains in custody after choosing to waive a scheduled court appearance on Tuesday. Investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the attacks.
