She Met Man With Flowers at SFO, Hasn’t Been Seen Since

A solo sightseeing trip to California has turned into a missing-person search for a 21-year-old from the United Kingdom. San Francisco police are looking for Katherine Esther Gamboa Kerwood, who arrived at San Francisco International Airport on March 31 for a weeklong trip planned to include Sacramento, Calaveras Big Trees State Park, San Francisco, and Santa Cruz, according to her family.
Her family says she contacted them on Tuesday after arriving at the airport and mentioned she was staying at a Sacramento hostel, but they later discovered she never checked in.
Kerwood’s father said airport security footage shows her meeting a man with flowers upon her arrival. The family says they later learned she had met this man, identified as David, previously in the UK. A family friend told KTVU that relatives received a text from Kerwood on Friday and requested a phone call, but she did not respond.
The disappearance has been reported to both San Francisco police and UK authorities. The SFPD says her information has been entered into a statewide database. Kerwood is scheduled to fly back to London on Wednesday.
