FULL ON PANIC MODE: Pakistan Prime Minister BEGS Trump for 2-Week Delay
Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, has urgently requested that President Donald Trump postpone his looming military deadline on Iran by two weeks.
The appeal comes as the Tuesday 8:00 p.m. ET deadline approaches, the point at which the United States has warned it will target Iran’s power plants, bridges, oil facilities, and other critical infrastructure if Tehran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end restrictions on global oil shipments.
Sharif, seeking to position himself as a mediator, made the request just hours ago. He called on Trump to extend the deadline by two weeks “to allow diplomacy to run its course” and simultaneously urged Iran to reopen the strait as a “goodwill gesture.”
Sharif posted on X:
“Diplomatic efforts for peaceful settlement of the ongoing war in the Middle East are progressing steadily, strongly, and powerfully with the potential to lead to substantive results in near future. To allow diplomacy to run its course, I earnestly request President Trump to extend the deadline for two weeks.
Pakistan, in all sincerity, requests the Iranian brothers to open Strait of Hormuz for a corresponding period of two weeks as a goodwill gesture. We also urge all warring parties to observe a ceasefire everywhere for two weeks to allow diplomacy to achieve conclusive termination of war, in the interest of long-term peace and stability in the region.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told CBS News that President Trump has been briefed on the proposal and a response is forthcoming.
Speaking to Fox News, President Trump confirmed he is involved in “heated negotiations” with the Iranian regime. He declined to comment on Pakistan’s two-week extension request, saying he would be briefed on it soon, but added:
“I know him very well. He’s a highly respected man, all over.”
Leavitt reiterated, “The President has been made aware of the proposal, and a response will come.”
Pakistan’s current stance marks a shift from previous criticism of U.S. strikes on Iran, when it quietly suggested Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his handling of an earlier India-Pakistan standoff.
Just yesterday, reports indicated that President Trump refused to extend the Iran deadline again, after already granting a 10-day reprieve. Iran reportedly responded by restricting global oil supplies while engaging in negotiations in bad faith.
Earlier, President Trump issued a stern warning to Tehran on Truth Social:
“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will.”
Iran has rejected Pakistan-brokered ceasefire efforts, instead submitting a 10-point counterproposal including demands such as lifting all U.S. sanctions, formal recognition of Iranian influence across the Middle East, and unrestricted development of its nuclear and missile programs.

President Trump has emphasized that the United States will no longer tolerate threats from Iran against global energy supplies or American interests. Unlike previous administrations, he is insisting on tangible leverage and real consequences for Iran’s actions.
