Man Accused of Killing Grandma, 90, With Skateboard

Police in Massachusetts say a 29-year-old man is accused of killing his 90-year-old grandmother with a skateboard inside the Hudson home where they lived together.

According to prosecutors, Devin Dube first attacked his sister with a skateboard Tuesday afternoon, which led to a 911 call to authorities. Investigators say he then assaulted his grandmother, Elaine Dube. A second call placed from inside the home reported that she had also been attacked. She was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, where she later died.

Officials say Dube’s father and sister were also injured during the incident but were treated for their injuries and released.

Police later located Dube sitting in a van at a nearby property. He was arrested without resistance and is now facing charges of murder and assault.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said Dube had previous encounters with law enforcement, though she noted none were as serious as this case. Court documents referenced by NBC Boston describe earlier situations involving threats, a restraining order violation, and alleged racist remarks at a skate park. Authorities also said a court psychologist previously diagnosed Dube with schizophrenia and reported that he has not consistently taken prescribed medication.

Investigators emphasized that the violence occurred within the family home and that authorities do not believe there is any ongoing danger to the public. Dube is being held without bail and is scheduled to return to court on April 17 for a probable cause hearing.

Neighbors described Elaine Dube as a kind and welcoming person. One neighbor said she was always cheerful and warm toward others and added that she did not deserve such a tragic death.
