Iran vows to target tourist sites worldwide — as spring break kicks off in US
Iran issued a stark warning on Friday, threatening to target tourist destinations worldwide, coinciding with the start of spring break in the United States.
Gen. Abolfazl Shekarchi, a spokesman for the Iranian military, delivered the threat on state television, stating that locations frequented by travelers would no longer be considered safe for Tehran’s adversaries.
“Based on the information we have, even parks, recreational areas, and tourist spots anywhere in the world will no longer be secure for you,” Shekarchi said, without identifying any specific sites.

The warning comes amid heightened concern that Iran could expand militant attacks beyond the Middle East as a form of pressure. The Department of Homeland Security and the FBI have already heightened vigilance following U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iranian targets, which escalated the conflict three weeks ago.

U.S. officials also confirmed that three additional warships and about 2,500 Marines are being sent to the Middle East. While no plans have been finalized to deploy troops into Iran itself, the forces aim to increase operational readiness in the region.
President Trump, speaking Thursday, emphasized that he was not deploying troops “anywhere,” and added that even if he were considering such moves, he would not disclose them to the press.
