Epstein Emails Suggest American Express Booked Women’s Flights

American Express says it regrets having once counted convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein among its customers, after newly released U.S. Justice Department records reviewed by CBS News detailed how he used the firm’s in-house travel services for years.

According to the documents, Epstein relied on American Express travel agents between at least 2012 and 2019 to arrange international flights for multiple women and girls—many from Eastern Europe—whose identities and ages were redacted. The bookings continued long after his 2008 conviction for procuring a minor for prostitution and until shortly before his 2019 arrest on federal sex-trafficking charges.

Emails in the records appear to show Epstein’s longtime assistant Lesley Groff coordinating closely with Amex staff, using his invitation-only card to create a dedicated travel team. Messages reference ticket changes and visa questions for women traveling from cities such as Moscow and Warsaw to destinations including New York, Paris, Miami, and Poland, sometimes with notes about when Epstein wanted them to arrive at his residence.

In a statement, an American Express spokesperson said the company “strongly condemns abuse, exploitation, and human trafficking,” and that Epstein’s account was terminated after federal charges were filed. The company said it “regret[s] having him as a customer” but declined to answer questions about possible internal warning signs or what it knew about his prior conviction.

Separately, U.K. authorities are examining whether Epstein trafficked victims through British airports on private flights, according to reporting by The Guardian.
