Michigan Man Mows Down Family with His Car, Fatally Shoots Couple’s 3-Year-Old Girl
A Delta Township, Michigan man has been arrested after a violent attack that left a young girl dead and three adults injured.
21-year-old Alexander Lamar Banks Jr. allegedly drove his car into a family walking on a sidewalk last Friday, then exited the vehicle and fired a gun at them. Authorities say the attack fatally wounded the couple’s 3-year-old daughter, Harlow.
A Good Samaritan who tried to help the family was also seriously injured in the incident. “Paige and Cameron are a loving family who recently experienced a devastating attack. Both parents were injured, and tragically, their young daughter lost her life,” a GoFundMe page for the family said.
The fundraiser continued, “Paige was our daughter’s nanny, and her little one became our girl’s very first friend. She quickly became a cherished part of our lives, caring for our daughter with warmth, love, and dedication. As friends and members of the community, we want to rally around Paige and Cameron to help ease their financial burden. All funds raised will go directly toward medical expenses, funeral costs for Harlow, and helping cover everyday living expenses, as they will be unable to work for the foreseeable future. This will allow them to focus on healing and remembering their beloved daughter.”
The GoFundMe page for the Good Samaritan detailed her heroic actions: “Our dear friend Barb was the victim of a horrific assault outside her house in Delta Township on Friday, Feb. 13, around 5:30 p.m. When she heard someone in trouble, she ran outside to help without any thought for her own safety. She ran directly into the danger, saving two lives by distracting the gunman. She endured severe trauma to her head and face, including bleeding in her brain. Emergency brain surgery was life-saving, but she remains in critical condition and unconscious. We are waiting and praying for her to wake up.”
Authorities have charged Banks with 10 counts, including first-degree murder and attempted murder. CBS News reports that the charges also include four counts of felony firearm, three counts of assault with intent to murder, carrying a weapon with unlawful intent, and possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle.

Deputies said the family was walking around 5:30 p.m. near Green Meadows and Farmstead Lane when Banks’ vehicle struck them. He then allegedly got out and fired multiple shots. The suspect was located and taken into custody with help from the Michigan State Police.
The 3-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene, while the adults and the Good Samaritan were hospitalized with serious injuries.
