The FBI said Sunday that a glove discovered a few miles from Nancy Guthrie’s home appears to match the glove worn by the person seen in the disturbing porch doorbell surveillance video.
Investigators recovered about 16 gloves from various locations near the residence. Most were determined to belong to searchers who had discarded them while combing the surrounding area. However, one glove was different and is believed to match the glove worn by the individual captured on the Nancy Guthrie surveillance footage.
DNA from an unidentified male was recovered from that glove and has been sent to a private laboratory in Florida for analysis. The FBI said preliminary results have already been received and final confirmation is expected soon. Once confirmed, the unknown male DNA profile will be entered into CODIS, the bureau’s national database.
According to the FBI, the glove was found roughly two miles from the Guthrie residence in a roadside field. It was collected by PCSD, packaged, and shipped overnight on February 12, arriving at the lab the following day. Preliminary findings were returned on February 14, and investigators are now awaiting final quality-control verification before uploading the DNA profile.
The FBI said it will continue assisting investigators according to the timeline provided.
