Mom found dead in trash can after forcing teen son to eat ‘prisoner food’ and wear an orange jumpsuit for sneaking out of the house

A 16-year-old boy in Oklahoma has been charged in connection with the death of his adoptive mother, according to court documents.
Jordan Cole Weems is being prosecuted as an adult and faces charges of first-degree murder, desecration of a human corpse, and unauthorized removal of a dead body in the death of 49-year-old Spring Weems.
In a court filing seeking to hold the teen without bond, prosecutors allege the killing was planned in advance rather than a spontaneous act. According to the filing, Weems admitted to attacking his mother during the night and later attempting to conceal what had happened.
Prosecutors say that after the incident, Weems tried to hide the body and gave family members false explanations for his mother’s absence. They also allege that he had previously made threats against her.
The situation reportedly stemmed from an earlier incident in which Weems and one of his brothers were caught sneaking out of the house and encountered law enforcement. As punishment, Spring Weems allegedly required the boys to write letters apologizing to police and imposed disciplinary measures intended to deter future misconduct.
According to local reports, during this period Weems allegedly told a sibling multiple times that he intended to kill their mother.
When Spring Weems did not return home the following day, one of the children contacted their adoptive father, who filed a missing persons report with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies later responded to the home on Jan. 28 after receiving reports of a fight in the street involving Weems and a sibling. When deputies arrived, one of the brothers reportedly told them that their mother had been killed. Authorities then discovered her body in a trash container at the curb.
In requesting that the teen be held without bond, prosecutors argued that the allegations show a level of planning and an attempt to mislead others after the fact. They also noted that no parent was willing to take responsibility for ensuring his appearance in court.
A judge granted the request, and Weems is being held without bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 24.
