Burglars Are Planting Cameras to Case Houses

Burglars in California’s Bay Area are reportedly turning to technology to scout out potential targets instead of simply looking through windows. Police in San Jose are investigating after a homeowner discovered a camouflaged surveillance camera hidden in bushes outside the house, according to Fox News.
Authorities say the camera was positioned to point directly at the home, making it unlikely it was intended to record wildlife. “It is believed the camera was used to monitor the occupants of the residence in preparation for a burglary or other criminal activity,” the San Jose Police Department said, as reported by KRON.

Detectives later found a second concealed WiFi-enabled device in the same area. Police believe these findings match a growing pattern seen in several recent cases. According to the department, suspects have been placing hidden surveillance equipment while posing as delivery workers to figure out when homes are empty before breaking in.
So far, no arrests have been made in connection with the devices.
