Comedian Kathy Griffin has sparked controversy after urging her social media followers to identify neighbors who support MAGA ideology and organize local resistance to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations. On her YouTube show Talk Your Head Off with Kathy Griffin, she stated, “I reside in Los Angeles, and these events are occurring in specific areas here. It’s time to engage with your neighbors and discern where they stand politically.”
Griffin described coordinated efforts by her supporters in Minnesota, claiming they used encrypted communication and signals such as “whistles and car horns” to counter ICE enforcement. She also characterized detention facilities as “essentially concentration camps” and warned that “if you’re silent, you’re complicit.”
The remarks drew sharp criticism from media personality Megyn Kelly, who dismissed actress Natalie Portman’s emotional response to ICE operations. On her podcast, Kelly said, “No one gives a s— about Natalie Portman’s political opinion.” She criticized Portman for publicly crying during interviews about immigration enforcement, arguing that as a wealthy actress “protected by guards and fences and multi-million dollar estates,” she lacked firsthand perspective on law enforcement challenges.
Kelly also took aim at late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, questioning why celebrities focus on immigration activists rather than victims of crimes allegedly committed by undocumented immigrants. She cited the cases of Jocelyn Nungaray and Laken Riley as examples, sarcastically asking whether Portman would “spare even a welling of the eyes” for such victims.
