President Trump Announces a Large Fleet of US Warships Is Moving Towards Iran – Threatens Iran on Hanging Protesters

President Trump said Thursday that the United States is deploying what he described as a “massive armada” toward Iran amid an ongoing political uprising and reports of widespread killings by the Iranian regime.

Iranian state television reported Wednesday that 3,117 people have been killed since December 27. Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, issued a warning to the United States, stating that Iran would respond forcefully if it were attacked again.

“Unlike the restraint Iran showed in June 2025, our powerful armed forces have no qualms about firing back with everything we have if we come under renewed attack,” Araghchi wrote, referencing the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran earlier this year. He added that a broader confrontation would be intense, prolonged, and would impact the wider region and global population.

While speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One from Davos, Switzerland, President Trump addressed the situation, confirming that U.S. naval forces are moving toward the region as a precaution.

“We have a lot of ships going that direction, just in case,” Trump said. “We have a big flotilla heading that way, and we’ll see what happens.”

On Thursday, President Trump also said his administration intervened to prevent the execution of 837 Iranian men who were reportedly scheduled to be hanged by the regime.

“We’re watching Iran very closely,” Trump said. “I saw that 837 people were going to be executed. I told them if those hangings took place, they would be hit harder than ever before. An hour before it was set to happen, they canceled it — not postponed it, canceled it.”

Trump added that while a large U.S. naval force remains en route to the region, he hopes it will not need to be used.

“We have a massive fleet heading in that direction,” he said. “Maybe we won’t have to use it. We’ll see.”
