At one point during Sunday’s gathering, individuals in the crowd confronted a CBS News reporter who was covering the demonstration. According to the footage, protesters surrounded the reporter, shouting and questioning why the news team was present. Some appeared to express mistrust of media coverage and believed the outlet was aligned with federal authorities.
During the exchange, one person pushed the reporter before others in the crowd intervened to separate them.

Former CNN anchor Don Lemon was also present at the scene and is seen on video encouraging calm. He told a man in the crowd that journalists were “just doing their jobs.” The man responded that every time agents operate in the area, he felt they were preparing to take more forceful action. Lemon urged protesters not to take out frustrations on reporters and noted that the individuals working for the news organization were doing their work independently.
The incident reflects the high emotions and mistrust surrounding the ongoing protests and federal immigration enforcement operations in Minneapolis.
