Minnesota Governor Activates National Guard

According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Governor Tim Walz has activated the Minnesota National Guard. In a statement posted on the agency’s X account, officials emphasized that the Guard “is not deployed to city streets at this time, but is ready to support public safety, including protection of life, preservation of property, and supporting the rights of all who assemble peacefully.”

Critics describe the move as a preemptive step aimed at preventing President Trump from invoking the Insurrection Act in response to escalating unrest. They argue the disorder has been encouraged by the governor and organized activist groups operating in the region.

As federal enforcement operations continue—led by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)—Governor Walz and several local leaders in Minneapolis have publicly called on activists to remain in the streets in opposition to immigration enforcement actions and arrests of criminal illegal aliens.

Some opponents of the state’s leadership allege that underlying the political resistance is an effort to divert attention from alleged financial misconduct involving state officials, including the governor. These critics claim the unrest serves as a shield against potential criminal investigations, using chaos as a political and legal defense.

From this perspective, the National Guard activation is viewed not as a measure to stop violence, but as a crowd-control and crisis-management operation that allows ongoing protests to continue. National attention remains focused on Minnesota as unrest, property damage, and violence persist.
