Man, 59, mauled to death by pit bull in NYC home
A Staten Island man was killed by a pit bull inside a home on Sunday afternoon, authorities and sources said.
Police responded to a 911 call reporting a dangerous animal inside a residence on New Dorp Lane just after 4 p.m., the NYPD said. When officers arrived, they discovered a 59-year-old man with multiple wounds consistent with dog bites. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. It is not yet known whether he lived in the home or if anyone else was present during the attack.

The pit bull involved was taken into the care of the ASPCA, law enforcement sources said.
The city’s Medical Examiner will officially determine the cause of death, and police said the investigation is ongoing.
