Suspect steals package, leaves behind Bible at Southern California home
[KTLA]
A suspected thief may need some extra salvation after allegedly stealing a package from in front of a home – and leaving a Bible in its place.
The theft was recorded by a home security camera in Irvine last month.
According to police, the woman, who was wearing an official-looking blue vest, pulled up to a home on Alexandria Street in a vehicle that appeared to have flame decals on the side.
Footage posted to Irvine Police Department’s Instagram account – accompanied by smooth jazz – shows her walking up to the front porch with a Bible in one hand, dropping it in front of the door, then picking up a large cardboard box and walking back to her car.
Comments on the post were … predictable.
“Is that really ‘The Lord’s work?’” one read.
“I think she needed that Bible more than the package,” wrote another.
“She said: you don’t need this… you need Jesus.”
Anyone who recognizes the woman is urged to contact Irvine Police.
