We are running in circles trying to land our son a wife
DEAR ABBY:
My 36-year-old son has completely given up on dating. Despite our best efforts—arranging blind dates, encouraging him to meet people from our church, and even taking him to dating events—he still hasn’t found a wife. At his age, I had hoped he would already have a partner and maybe children, but that hasn’t happened.
Our son is 6 feet tall, athletic, devout, financially independent with his own apartment, and earns $100,000 a year. Yet he remains unmarried. The pressure has even started to frustrate him; he gets upset with my wife and me for pushing him to date. I’ve watched a few of the blind dates we set up, and in some cases, he was even stood up.
I want to help him find a wife while I still can. How can I do that without causing more tension?
