Elderly Florida man rescued by cops after slipping while blowing leaves on roof: video
An elderly man had a terrifying fall from his roof while blowing leaves on Wednesday afternoon, but he managed to cling to the tiles until police arrived, according to video released by the Tampa Police Department.
The man, who has not been publicly identified, let out a visible sigh of relief when officers Jason Sikoski and Kaleb Girard climbed onto the roof to reach him. Body camera footage shows the man hanging on as his legs dangled over the edge of his three-story home.
The officers quickly entered the top floor through a window and carefully grabbed the man’s wrists, pulling him to safety. Despite the scraping tiles and the precarious situation, the man tried to tough it out and even offered a sheepish apology once he was secure.

“I didn’t mean to cause all this,” he said.
“It’s not your fault, that’s what we’re here for,” Girard replied.
The man praised the officers for their quick response. “You got here very quickly,” he said.
“That’s what we try to do, yes sir,” Girard responded.
“Well, you do a very good job,” the man added.
According to the Tampa Police Department, the man lost his footing while blowing leaves. After the initial rescue, Tampa Fire Rescue assisted in lowering him safely to the ground. The department expressed gratitude for the quick response and the community’s trust, writing on Facebook, “We’re grateful for their quick response, and for a community that trusts us to be there when it matters most!”
Many online commenters sympathized with the man, with one noting that he may have believed he was still spry enough to “do silly things” like climbing onto his roof.
