A U.S. Army gynecologist has been charged with secretly filming and photographing dozens of female patients during medical exams at a Texas military hospital, officials announced Tuesday.

Maj. Blaine McGraw, 47, faces a wide range of charges for his alleged voyeuristic actions involving 44 patients under his care at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood between January and December of this year, according to the Army Office of Special Trials, NBC News reported.

Authorities say one patient was even recorded inside her home off the military base. McGraw’s arrest comes more than a week after he was initially jailed on Dec. 2 for violating orders from his commander following multiple allegations of sexual and professional misconduct.

The Army began investigating McGraw and suspended him from duty on Oct. 17 after a female patient, referred to as “Jane Doe,” filed a civil lawsuit accusing him of repeatedly groping her and secretly recording her during pelvic and breast exams, CNN reported.

“McGraw was removed from all patient care duties and access to electronic records to ensure patient safety, and all personnel involved were continuously accounted for,” Fort Hood said in a Dec. 4 statement. “The criminal investigation is ongoing.”

McGraw is also accused of similar misconduct at his previous assignment, Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii, where he served from 2019 to 2023 while completing his residency.

The Army has notified nearly 3,000 patients treated by McGraw at both Fort Hood and the Oahu military base, advising them of the investigation and asking them to complete a questionnaire detailing their experiences, according to military officials and sources cited by CNN.

More than 100 women have reportedly come forward claiming they were victims of his actions. “My clients are relieved,” said attorney Andrew Cobos, representing 75 of the accusers, in an interview with the Military Times. “For the first time since October 17, they feel safe knowing that McGraw is in jail. Major McGraw demonstrated that he could not be trusted. He disobeyed orders. He should remain confined until he has been tried for his actions.”

The Army’s Criminal Investigation Division has reviewed more than half a terabyte of digital media and conducted hundreds of interviews as part of its probe. McGraw faces 54 counts of indecent visual recording, five counts of conduct unbecoming an officer, willful disobedience of a superior officer, and making a false official statement.

He is currently held in pretrial confinement at Bell County Jail in Belton, Texas.
