Ilhan Omar Loses It After President Trump Calls Her “Garbage” (VIDEO)
Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar fired back at President Trump following his remarks about her and the Somali migrant community.
On Tuesday, President Trump criticized the Somali community in Minnesota, following reports of a $1 billion fraud scheme that involved members of the community. The scandal occurred during Governor Tim Walz’s administration and is now under investigation by the GOP-led Oversight Committee.
Speaking publicly, President Trump said he does not want Somali migrants in the United States. “I don’t want them in our country. Somebody will say, ‘Oh, that’s not politically correct.’ I don’t care. I don’t want them in our country. Their country is no good for a reason. Their country stinks, and we don’t want them in our country,” he said.
The president also targeted Rep. Ilhan Omar personally. “We keep taking in garbage to our country. Ilhan Omar is garbage. Her friends are garbage. These people come from hell, complain, and do nothing but complain,” Trump added. “Let them go back to where they came from and fix it.”
In response, Omar called the president’s comments xenophobic and Islamophobic. “He’s always been racist, bigoted, xenophobic, and Islamophobic. He called African nations ‘shithole,’ and said he wanted to stop Muslim immigration,” she said during an interview on MSNBC.
Omar also highlighted the racial and religious dimension of the criticism. “It’s not surprising he’s going after black immigrants, and it’s not surprising he’s targeting a black Muslim immigrant community,” she said.
Defending the Somali community in the United States, Omar concluded, “We are going to be here regardless of what the president has to say!”
