Great News on Gas Prices

One of the biggest factors affecting overall prices is the cost of gasoline. When gas becomes cheaper, it often drives down a host of other costs as well.
The encouraging news is that gas prices are dropping — and even CNN is acknowledging the trend. According to their report, “For the first time in 4.5 years, gas prices are averaging $3 per gallon nationally,” marking the lowest levels since 2021. Even more notable, twenty states now average below $2.75. In Texas, where prices hover around $2.45, that checks out.
Oil prices have also fallen significantly — from $81 under Joe Biden three years ago to about $59 under President Donald Trump today. CNN noted that U.S. production is at “all-time highs,” with additional output coming from OPEC as well.

This reflects the impact of Trump’s energy policies, including a strong push for expanded production. U.S. crude oil output climbed by 44,000 barrels per day in the latest month, reaching a record 13.84 million barrels per day, according to EIA data.
New Mexico, the nation’s second-largest oil-producing state, hit a record 2.351 million barrels per day. Production from the federal offshore Gulf region also rose to 1.983 million barrels per day in September, the highest since early 2020.
GasBuddy now lists the national average at $2.95 and expects continued downward pressure. “A few dozen stations are already offering gas under $2 per gallon, and we could see that number grow as we move further into the holiday season,” the company reported. “It couldn’t come at a better time for Americans—with relief arriving just as the holidays kick off.”
🚨 ALERT: In a stunning development, U.S. crude oil production hits a record 13.8 million barrels per day under American President Trump’s “Drill, Baby, Drill” policy, slashing gas prices below $3 in a staggering 33 American states for the first time since 2021. pic.twitter.com/IXKR5zaKjt

Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) said gas was $1.95 in Midwest City, Oklahoma — and GasBuddy confirms that figure.
If your local prices are still well over $3, state gas taxes may be a major factor. GasBuddy lists the highest average prices in California ($4.51), Hawaii ($4.35), and Washington ($4.09). All three are high-tax, Democrat-run states, which helps explain the difference.
Great news: 20 U.S. states, including Oklahoma, are averaging less than $2.75 per gallon for gasoline.

Overall, the declining prices are welcome news heading into the holidays, offering relief not only at the pump but potentially across other sectors as transportation costs continue to fall.
