Drunk raccoon found passed out in liquor store bathroom
A Virginia liquor store had a surprising visitor this weekend—a raccoon who apparently overindulged in the store’s alcohol.
Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter officials said the “masked bandit” was discovered collapsed in the bathroom of the Ashland ABC Store on Saturday morning. The mischievous critter had reportedly raided shelves and sampled multiple types of alcohol before passing out.
In a social media post, the shelter shared that they took the very intoxicated raccoon back to their facility to sober up. “After a few hours of sleep and zero signs of injury—other than maybe a hangover and some poor life choices—he was safely released back into the wild, hopefully having learned that breaking and entering isn’t the answer,” the post read.
Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter provides care for rescued animals found in the wild, offering veterinary attention and temporary housing until the animals can be returned to nature, adopted, or placed with rescue organizations.
