25,000 Violent Antifa Attack AfD Youth Group Convention in Giessen, Germany – Punching Journalists, Smashing Car Windows and Injuring a Horse!
A police horse was injured during the riots
Approximately 25,000 masked demonstrators clashed with police in Giessen as they attempted to disrupt the founding convention of “Generation Germany,” the new youth organization of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party. Violence erupted throughout the city as groups described by authorities as far-left extremists blocked roads and bridges, set up makeshift checkpoints, and repeatedly confronted law enforcement.
Police reported that a mounted unit was involved in an incident in which a horse slipped down a steep embankment. Witnesses claimed rocks had been thrown near the train station shortly before the fall, though police stated there was “no external cause” and said the horse and rider were not harmed. Attendees of the convention questioned the official account amid widespread unrest across Giessen.

Video circulating online appeared to show a man, identified by some as used-car dealer Can Mahsuni, striking members of journalist Maximilian Tichy’s team. Despite the deployment of roughly 6,000 officers from across Germany, police struggled to maintain access routes to the convention center as protesters erected at least 19 blockades.
Former U.S. ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell criticized the violence on social media, arguing that escalating political aggression in Germany mirrors trends he sees on the American left and warning that such tactics could alienate voters.
Mehr folgt! Schläger greifen Tichys Einblick in Gießen an.

The demonstrations were promoted by the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB), which has received public funding since 2015 for youth programs aimed at “protecting democracy.” The group worked alongside Campact, a major activist network known for organizing transportation to large-scale protests. Union members were told they could submit receipts for travel reimbursement.
Organizers had sought to mobilize around 50,000 participants but drew an estimated 25,000. Several AfD members reported being attacked, including one whose car window was smashed. Bundestag member Julian Schmidt said he was assaulted by a group of roughly 20 masked individuals; his accompanying security guard fought off the attackers, but Schmidt sustained a broken nose and multiple facial injuries.

Von den USA als terroristische Vereinigung eingestuft, in Deutschland lässt die CDU der „Antifa“ weiter freien Lauf. Inakzeptabel! Wer die Demokratie bewahren will, wählt: AfD. Und allen Patrioten in Gießen: Starke Nerven! Wir gewinnen!pic.twitter.com/4u8dvJswaS

Police used water cannons and batons as protesters attempted to breach security lines surrounding the venue. Authorities reported at least 15 officers injured during the clashes. Journalists covering the event, including a team from the weekly Junge Freiheit, said they were targeted with thrown objects, including rocks.
