WATCH: “THEY BURNED THIS BEAUTIFUL WOMAN” Trump Goes off. Get your act together!
President Trump used the White House Thanksgiving Turkey Pardoning Ceremony on Tuesday to sharply criticize Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, blending humor with pointed political commentary.
During the traditionally lighthearted event, Trump called Pritzker a “big fat slob” and referred to Mayor Johnson as “incompetent,” noting that while he had more jokes prepared about the governor, he refrained, saying, “when I talk about Pritzker, I get angry because he’s not letting us do the job.”
Trump also took aim at national political figures, including President Joe Biden, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, while highlighting his record of deploying federal resources to curb violent crime in cities such as Washington, D.C., and Memphis, Tennessee.
Turning to Chicago, the President cited a recent violent incident on a local train involving 50-year-old felon Lawrence Reed, who had a long criminal history and was released by local judges prior to allegedly dousing a woman in gasoline and setting her on fire. Trump criticized what he called the city’s “liberal judges” for repeatedly releasing dangerous offenders.
He also pointed to ongoing violence in Chicago, referencing last week’s incidents following the Millennium Park Christmas Tree lighting, during which at least eight people were shot amid a large gathering of teens.
“Governor Pritzker, if you’re listening, let’s get your act together,” Trump said. “Invite us in. We’re going to make your place so safe, you’re not going to have these crimes making the front page of every newspaper and news story. We’ll make Chicago a safe place very quickly.”
Trump praised the National Guard and law enforcement officials for reducing crime in other cities, citing Memphis, where he said crime dropped 64% in three weeks under federal support. He said similar strategies could quickly improve safety in Chicago if local leaders allowed federal involvement.
Despite the serious tone, the President maintained a degree of humor in his speech, joking about his frustration with Pritzker but avoiding comments about his weight. “Some speech writer wrote a joke about his weight, but I would never want to talk about his weight. I don’t talk about people being fat. I refuse to talk about the fact that he’s a fat slob. I don’t mention it,” Trump said.
