‘You’re going to pay’: Woman sliced boyfriend with machete after fight at Texas Roadhouse

A Florida woman is facing multiple felony charges after police say she attacked her boyfriend with a machete during a heated confrontation over photos found on her cellphone.
Liz Frechel, 49, was taken into custody Friday and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where she is being held without bond. According to an arrest report obtained by Law&Crime, the conflict began Thursday night while Frechel and her boyfriend were eating dinner at a Texas Roadhouse in Miami. During the meal, he saw photos on her phone showing her embracing another man and holding hands with him.
Upset, he left the restaurant, and police say he later returned to her apartment to drop off some of her belongings. He intended to leave the items on an air-conditioning unit outside, but realized he’d accidentally left his car keys with them. When he went back to retrieve them, Frechel had already taken everything inside. As he tried to enter the apartment, she attempted to slam the door on him, according to the report.
The boyfriend eventually stepped inside and saw his keys on her bed. Police say that once he was in the bedroom, Frechel locked the door, told him he wasn’t going anywhere, and threatened him. She then allegedly went to her closet, grabbed a machete, and swung it at him.
He tried to flee but was struck in the right elbow by the blade as Frechel shouted threats, authorities said. He escaped the apartment and drove himself to a hospital, where he was treated for a deep laceration.
A neighbor later told police she heard a woman yelling, objects being thrown, and a man crying before watching someone run out of Frechel’s apartment.
Officers attempted to contact Frechel that night but were unable to reach her. When they returned with a search warrant on Friday, she was arrested. Police say she declined to give a statement after being read her rights.
Frechel is charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and false imprisonment. She is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 25.
